We finally have some results in from Ohio 7th District. Of course, only 6 percent of the vote is in so far, so it might be a while until we know the winner of this race. But, so far, in the GOP primary, the Trump-endorsed Max Miller is leading all three of his opponents.

For readers just now catching up on everything happening in the 7th District, here’s some background (h/t Geoff): The 7th District is a bit complicated to follow because 1) new redistricting lines and 2) Ohio lost a seat during reapportionment.

Prior to redistricting, however, the 7th District was solidly Republican with a partisan lean of R+35 and was represented by Rep. Bob Gibbs. Gibbs did intend to run for reelection up until recently, but withdrew his candidacy and announced plans to retire in April. At least publicly, Gibbs blamed the drawn-out redistricting process in Ohio — where deadlines were proceeding but the map wasn’t nailed down until the last minute — for his decision. But Miller’s decision to enter the race also made Gibbs’ reelection bid all the more challenging. (For more context, Miller was an early challenger to Rep. Anthony Gonzalez before he retired instead.)
