I guess I wonder how much putting distance between himself and the national Democratic Party can really help Ryan, given how strong partisanship is. How many Ohio Republicans are thinking, “Oh I’d just vote for a Democrat if they’d stand up to their party more?” These are such tribal, emotional allegiances. Not sure how much rhetoric can do to sway them.
