Ryan has been hammering home that he’s not like the national Democratic Party. In his latest ad he said, “Defunding the police is way off the mark. We need more cops, not less. My party also got it wrong on the trade deals.” So the cynic in me says that maybe the backlash to his first ad plays in his favor, because it puts even more distance between him and Democrats in DC.
