Ryan’s big pitch is that he can win white working-class voters back to the Democratic Party. It’s a tall order, given how red the state has become. And, of course, there are questions about whether appealing to white voters is the right strategy for Democrats, given their diversifying coalition — and if rhetoric like what Sarah just mentioned is more damaging than helpful.
