The Key Races To Watch In Indiana

Ohio may be getting all the attention tonight, but Indiana has a few important races to keep an eye on as well. To wit:

  • The GOP primary in the 1st District, which looks like a contest between Air Force reservist Jennifer-Ruth Green (who has raised the most money, $304,521) and former LaPorte Mayor Blair Milo (who has raised the second most, $225,085). However, the district’s Democratic incumbent, Rep. Frank Mrvan, would probably prefer if Republicans nominate perennial candidate Mark Leyva. A strong supporter of Trump and the Big Lie, Leyva may have trouble winning over swing voters in this D+7 seat.
  • The GOP primary in the 9th District, a dark-red open seat where the Republican nominee is almost certain to go to Congress. This is a great opportunity for Republicans to add a woman (state Sen. Erin Houchin) to their caucus, but 76-year-old former Rep. Mike Sodrel may have more name recognition and definitely has more money.
