Colorado’s new 8th District, gained in reapportionment, has a contested GOP primary tonight, and with 26 percent of the expected vote reporting, state Sen. Barb Kirkmeyer has 49 percent of the vote, putting her well ahead of Weld County Commissioner Lori Saine. Democrats tried to help Saine out because they viewed her as the GOP’s least electable choice in the swing seat, but so far that doesn’t look to have worked.
