Colorado Republicans may be on the verge of breathing a sign of relief because businessman Joe O’Dea leads state Rep. Ron Hanks by 16 points with 55 percent of the expected vote reporting. O’Dea has some self-funding ability and resembles a candidate who could actually threaten Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet in November if things go well for the GOP — for instance, he’s very focused on economic issues and is actually pro-choice. Democrats spent millions boosting the underfunded Hanks, though, because he’s a 2020 election denier and more likely to lose in November.
