In Illinois’s 1st District, Karin Norington-Reaves, retiring Rep. Bobby Rush’s favored candidate, is currently sitting in third place. I feel fairly confident saying this race will go to a runoff, but I’m wondering why Norington-Reaves couldn’t overcome the name ID of someone like Jonathan Jackson. With 41 percent of the expected vote in, Jackson sits at 30 percent, while Chicago Alderwoman Pat Dowell has netted 21 percent. Norington-Reaves, meanwhile, is at 13 percent.
