Two incumbent House Republicans face runoffs in Mississippi tonight, and so far one is doing much better than the other.
In the 3rd District GOP runoff, Rep. Michael Guest leads former Navy pilot Michael Cassidy by 35 points, per the AP. Guest got a nasty surprise in the primary on June 7 when Cassidy narrowly finished ahead of him but just shy of the required 50 percent. But with about one-third of the expected vote reporting, Guest seems to have turned it around. Meanwhile in the 4th District, Rep. Steven Palazzo isn’t quite so fortunate. The scandal-laden congressman trails Jackson County Sheriff 54 percent to 46 percent with about 40 percent reporting. He’s not done for, but that’s not a good sign.
