Speaking of that incumbent-versus-incumbent matchup in Illinois’s 6th District, there are a lot of races where incumbents might lose tonight — either thanks to redistricting as is the case in Illinois’s 6th — or as is the case in Mississippi’s two house runoff elections, thanks to a strong protest vote. The protest vote has been particularly interesting to watch this year on the Republican side, even when the incumbent has still prevailed. So tell me what’s going on with incumbents losing this year or facing close races. Is this unusual?
