Now might be a good time to check in with the progressive candidates we are watching tonight. As a reminder, we are tracking progressives who are backed by national chapters of Justice Dems, Our Revolution, Indivisible, Sunrise Movement, the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, as well as Sen. Sanders or Rep. Ocasio Cortez.
There are a couple of progressives who’ve already been projected to win their races: Maxwell Frost in Florida’s 10th District, Rep. Jamaal Bowman in New York’s 16th District and attorney Josh Riley in New York’s 19th District. He was running against Jamie Cheney, who had a host of endorsements that aligned with her female-foward campaign, such as Planned Parenthood, EMILY’s List, Moms Demand Action (the grassroots organization fighting for gun safely legislation) and Elect Democratic Women. In New York’s 10th District, Rep. Mondaire Jones is trailing Dan Goldman (among others), and in New York’s 3rd District, Melanie D’Arrigo is trailing too. Finally, in New York’s 17th District, Alessandra Biaggi is trailing the Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, with 39 percent of the vote reported.
