If Biden finishes a distant fourth or fifth, and he shifts his focus to South Carolina (18 days from now) ahead of Nevada, that will produce a lot of stories about whether Biden is finished. There may not be a lot of stories that’ll turn that around, especially as national polling already sees him dropping in support and favorability and alternatives are available. It’s a downward cycle that will be hard to escape.
