One thing that makes it hard to extrapolate town results to other towns based on the 2016 results is that, even though Sanders did well all over the state in 2016, he probably did so for different reasons: Some voters probably loved him because of his uber-progressive message, while others probably went for him because he was the “anyone but Clinton” candidate. The town of Moultonborough may be an example of the latter. In 2016, it voted for Sanders 61 percent to 39 percent. This year, its top two votegetters appear to be Buttigieg (28 percent) and Klobuchar (24 percent), two candidates who have struck the least ideological tones this year.
