My guess would be that Mace will be OK in the end if most of the outstanding vote in South Carolina’s 1st District GOP primary come from Beaufort County. Mace has a majority of the vote reported so far by ABC News from the county, and more broadly, Beaufort is not the Trumpiest part of South Carolina — remember (why would you), it was actually John Kasich’s strongest county in the 2016 presidential primary! He got 19 percent there, about 6 points better than any other county in the state.
