What Went Down In The 2020 Nevada Caucuses
Kaleigh, I just saw one of those high card draws on television at a precinct in Reno, with Buttigieg’s supporter drawing a 3 and Sanders’s supporter drawing a 2. To be clear, this sort of thing will get a lot of coverage, but it doesn’t happen that much. And deciding one county delegate isn’t likely to affect the outcome much unless things are super close because there are more than 14,000 county delegates.
We are starting to get some formal (i.e., not reported via Twitter) results now. Still just a couple precincts, though, so don’t draw any conclusions yet.
Just a reminder that if two candidates tie at any caucus in Nevada, the tie is broken by drawing from a pack of cards. High card wins. Aces are high, suits are ranked spades (highest), hearts, diamonds, clubs (lowest). Here’s an example for the state party’s training material
