In 2012, the Iowa Republican Party announced the wrong winner in night-of results (Romney) and corrected it (Santorum) with additional data only 16 days later. It had no effect on candidates’ decisions to campaign there in 2016. I would expect it to take more than this episode to dislodge Iowa’s place.
