The Iowa Democratic Caucus electorate identifies as far more liberal than the national electorate of Democrats. The entrance poll has is at 25 percent very liberal, 42 percent somewhat liberal, 31 percent moderate and 2 percent conservative in this year’s caucuses. Pew’s recent national data shows Democrats and Democratic leaners at 15 percent very liberal, 32 percent somewhat liberal, 38 percent moderate and 14 percent conservative.
