I agree with Matt about the speeches — the earned media is the real prize coming out of Iowa, not the convention delegates. If things get later and later, and people tune out and front pages on the East Coast (say, in New Hampshire) have to go to print without a clear winner, it could dampen Iowa’s impact going forward. Just ask Rick Santorum — a “win” in Iowa, without the media momentum accompanying it, isn’t really much of a win.
