What Did — And Didn’t — Go Down In The Iowa Caucuses

We’re now moving into the part of the evening everyone is excited about — the presidential caucus. The precinct chair is outlining the steps: First, they need to figure out how many people are in the room. Then, they use that number to figure out what the viability thresholds are. And then the caucusgoers will go through the first and second alignments. Note that at several points, the volunteers running the caucus will have to accurately count the 800+ people in this room.

Roughly 50 minutes after doors closed at caucus sites, we still don’t have any officially reported results (as opposed to the anecdotal results being tweeted by reporters who are on site).
