What Did — And Didn’t — Go Down In The Iowa Caucuses
And the caucus is being called to order! Here we go, y’all. Don’t forget to tweet questions at me if you have them — I am here to answer them, big or small!
Also important to remember that if turnout surges in certain places — like the Des Moines suburbs — but not others, that’s going to potentially create bigger differences between the vote itself and state delegate equivalents.
There is definitely a sense of weariness among the caucusgoers I’ve talked to. When I walked up to one woman at the caucus tonight, she said, “All you need to know about me is that I’ll be so excited when this is over.” But her friend jumped in and said she appreciates the caucuses because everyone is so engaged with the political process. Iowa voters take their first-in-the-nation status very seriously — but it’s been a long, long year of campaigning.
