What Went Down During Gordon Sondland’s Testimony

It’s very odd, Sarah. Especially considering the text we just saw and the number of conversations that Sondland and Trump apparently had.

It really is bizarre. “President Trump never told me directly that the aid was conditioned on the meetings.” Yet, Sondland has testified at multiple points today that it was his personal belief that that is why the aid was held up. That’s such an odd needle to thread, no?

“Trump never told me directly,” the aid was tied to the investigation, Sondland testifies. I can imagine that was communicated in code words or through Giuliani. That is not, in my view, exonerating to Trump.
