I also think, Chad, that Sondland’s unreliability so far (having to amend his testimony) and his own admission that he doesn’t take notes could give them an opening to say he’s just not credible.

For what it’s worth, announcing criminal investigations in advance is not typical. It’s seen as unfair to the suspects and also a good way to tip people off that they’re about to be investigated, which can result in destruction of evidence. So not really a sign that you’re trying to actually figure out what’s going on.
