What Went Down During Gordon Sondland’s Testimony
I think that’s a key point, Perry. “Investigations” and “investigate” seems like a not-so-coded word in this case. It’s in that space where I think Republicans will build their defense.
From Sondland and other witnesses, it seems like Trump himself used the phrase “investigations” a lot and the terms “Burisma” and “Biden” much less frequently. It sounds like Giuliani was more direct.
One thing I’m thinking about, as we watch all of these high-level people getting drawn in more directly — the White House can throw them under the bus, but there are limits to how much that can help. Nixon’s former attorney general and chief of staff, among others, went down first in the Watergate scandal. But we all know how that ultimately ended for Nixon.
