What Went Down During Gordon Sondland’s Testimony
One thing that stood out to me in Sondland’s opening remarks is his citations of individual emails and texts, as he’s doing now. Citing one email as evidence is deeply problematic, in my view, when we don’t have access to the entire thread. Imagine someone pulling one email out of the hundreds you’ve sent and received … what could they represent with that email and how close would that representation be to reality?
Perry, I actually find that pretty believable. I don’t remember short phone calls I made four months ago, either. But the fact that he didn’t remember isn’t good for Trump. In fact, it emphasizes how ho-hum the topic of investigations would have been to Sondland — which is obviously damning for the president.
Sondland being unable to remember this call with Trump is hard for me to believe. Maybe he talks to Trump a lot but …
