Nate, I think you have to remember that not a lot of people are actually watching these hearings live, and even fewer are watching them in their entirety. I think Schiff’s windup is meant to help contextualize Democrats’ case for the media members who are distilling these hearings for public consumption. (Also, I’d point out that it might be better from a ratings standpoint to have the witnesses speak at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. when the western half of the country is likelier to be awake.)
