What Went Down During Gordon Sondland’s Testimony
A little observation for the people reading this and not watching — Sondland has a quite expressive face, so I have to say, it’s sort of fun to watch his reactions to the opening statements … especially as Nunes says “I’m really not glad you’re here.”
So Schiff makes the Nixon parallel directly. He notes one of the articles against Nixon for impeachment was for obstructing Congress’ investigation. That was basically a promise of an impeachment article against Trump.
Sondland might be unreliable as a witness. But it’s still kind of remarkable how much his testimony has “evolved” over the past month. In his initial testimony, he said he couldn’t remember a quid pro quo. Now he’s about to state directly that there was. Shows how effective the House Democrats’ investigation has been, at least in terms of uncovering enough evidence to make Sondland (arguably their most important witness) shift his stance.
