Let’s not forget this testy exchange between Donald Trump and Ted Cruz over Cruz’s birth in Canada. Cruz is here for … Cruz. Not particularly for Trump.

I think Rubio’s confused about what to do because he’s running for re-election in Florida, and it’s not at all clear whether distancing himself from Trump or embracing Trump is the better answer. That was a pretty half-assed solution, though, for a candidate who was often criticized for his half-measures.

The whole thing is surreal. Cruz is speaking in person and not endorsing Trump. Rubio spoke by video and endorsed Trump. It’s almost as if both are trying to split the baby in different ways.
