I agree with all of that, Rakich, but it’s also important that the average scholarly estimate of how much electoral impact voting rights laws have is much less than what the average Democratic activist thinks. So maybe Democrats should talk about the issue more as a moral imperative and avoid making empirical claims that won’t necessarily hold up to scrutiny.
