What We’re Watching In Arkansas Tonight
Arkansas isn’t hosting the most competitive races of the evening, but here are two Republican primaries to be aware of:
- Senate: Incumbent Sen. John Boozman has Trump’s endorsement, but that hasn’t stopped former NFL player Jake Bequette and former journalist Jan Morgan from running against him, arguing that the mild-mannered incumbent isn’t pro-Trump enough. Polls have put Boozman right on the cusp of a majority, which is necessary for him to avoid a runoff on June 21. A Boozman-Bequette runoff could get interesting, as Bequette has the support of conservative megadonor Richard Uihlein.
- Governor: This one should be a blowout, but it’s significant because of the name involved: Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Trump’s former press secretary and daughter of former Gov. Mike Huckabee. She faces only token opposition in both the primary and general election and looks well on her way to being Arkansas’s first female governor.
