What Happened This Week In Washington — And Georgia
Hearing Cruz call for another investigation of the election makes me feel compelled to say, for the umpteenth time, that Trump and Republicans brought a slew of alleged fraud claims into the courts and basically all of them were rejected. It’s pretty extraordinary (and, of course, highly inaccurate) to say at this point that those allegations haven’t been reviewed by neutral fact-finders.
While I’m not there in person, I’m able to get a first-person view of the protests outside the Capitol thanks to the dozens of attendees who are livestreaming. It’s a medium popular among Trump supporters who don’t trust mainstream media and prefer citizen livestreams.
Cruz essentially said that by suggesting Congress set up a 10-day commission to investigate purported fraud, he is respecting the voters who believe there was election fraud. Obviously, that is what the courts are for.
