What Happened This Week In Washington — And Georgia
Interesting that Trump just repeated the “find the votes” language he used on the call with Georgia’s secretary of state.
If you want to get a sense of just how much pressure Team Trump is putting on Pence right now, take a look at the appeal that was just filed to the Supreme Court by Rep. Louis Gohmert. The attorney of record is Sidney Powell, one of the president’s advisers, and the lawsuit is essentially asking the court to say that Pence has the authority to intervene in the Electoral College vote count and throw the election to Trump. To be clear, this lawsuit is going nowhere fast (it’s already been rejected by multiple courts), but it’s extraordinary to see one of the president’s close legal advisers suing the vice president at the Supreme Court.
Earlier this week, members of Congress were given security instructions to take tunnels when traveling to and from the Capitol today, due to the expected crowds.
