What Went Down During The First Presidential Debate

It is actually a very important question — whether Biden would support getting rid of the filibuster and adding judges to the Supreme Court, as some liberals are urging. If Biden thinks he is going to make it to Election Day without answering those questions directly, good luck. There are two debates and a ton of other events moving forward, and Biden is going to keep getting pressed on this.

In a Morning Consult/Politico poll from September, 54 percent of registered voters said that the Trump administration was not doing enough in response to the coronavirus, compared with 34 percent who said it was doing the right amount. Five percent said it was doing too much.

The danger here for Biden is that Trump is interrupting so much that this debate is going to be a mess, but — as Wallace just did — the whole thing will likely be framed as an indictment of both candidates.

This first answer from Biden on COVID-19, which Trump hasn’t interrupted as I’m typing this, has been by far his best answer.
