What Went Down On Night Two Of The First Democratic Debates

Harris plays to win, and I’m generally a fan of candidates who play to win, and I think it might be an especially good tactic in an election when a lot of voters care about electability and being able to beat Trump.

Agreed that Harris’ delivery was very strong there. And she’s doing basically what I predicted in the beginning of the evening — making the debate about the individuals on the stage. Not that this exchange is not substantive — it is — but not at the same level of policy detail as yesterday.

Few candidates are as good at connecting the personal and the political as Harris was right there.
