What Went Down On Night Two Of The First Democratic Debates
Bernie Sanders is talking about specific policies — primarily his variant of Medicare for All — so far. And that’s in keeping with how he ran in 2016. Then, his supporters named specific policies 29 percent of the time when explaining why they supported him, the highest number for any 2016 candidate.
A very small “the party decides” thing, but how tickets are distributed for debates is one way that the party can exert a bit of influence, consciously or not. So far, the audience seems to be more on the side of some of the establishment-friendly candidates like Harris than the more insurgent ones.
Now that the rest of the party has moved towards Sanders on policy, Williamson seems to want to take up his outsider mantle.
