What Went Down On Night Two Of The First Democratic Debates
I happen to think that Pete’s “Medicare for everyone who wants it” will be cast as socialism, as will Medicare-for-all and that this is a bit overrated as a general election issue.
Sarah, I think it’s somewhat dangerous because when it comes to health care, people are quite risk averse. They may not love private insurance companies, but this is the system they’re used to — and the idea of the health care system changing dramatically (or being unstable) is something they’re understandably uncomfortable with.
What do we make of Dan’s argument that the candidates calling for the abolishment of private insurance are going a step too far? It does seem to be becoming a new litmus test, but is it good politics for Democrats?
