What Went Down On Night Two Of The First Democratic Debates
Biden’s family tragedies are something that Americans are familiar with — it’s part of his appeal as an empathizer. He uses it to talk about how he’s going to build on Obamacare, making a pitch for pragmatic improvements to the healthcare system.
So the biggest policy news from these debates is that Warren and Harris, two of the more plausible nominees, have taken the Sanders’ position on winding down most private insurance and Medicare for all. Biden and Buttigieg are not doing that. Harris and Warren are embracing a position that will make it easier for their critics to cast them as unelectable.
Twenty minutes in, and Marianne Williamson has yet to speak, while the leaders in the polls are getting the majority of the air time.
