What Went Down On Night Two Of The First Democratic Debates
One thing to watch for tonight is age: polls to date have made it clear that all else equal, Democratic voters prefer a candidate who is younger than 70. And with a wide age range on display tonight — at 76, Joe Biden is more than twice as old as 37-year-old Pete Buttigieg — I think age gaps are an important subtext to the debate. So, apparently, does Rep. Swalwell.
Swalwell has what could be a heavily replayed moment, talking about how Joe Biden once said it was time for a new generation of leadership — and how Swalwell now feels the same.
Seems like Eric Swalwell is going to be the first to take a shot at Biden — “pass the torch” using Biden’s own words against him.
