What Went Down On Night One Of The First Democratic Debates
In case anyone is wondering why the candidates aren’t doubling down on ending private insurance, take a look at this Kaiser Family Foundation poll from January: 58 percent of respondents said they’d oppose Medicare for All if it would eliminate private insurance companies.
Took 25 minutes for people to start speaking over each other.
I appreciate that Lester Holt asked that “abolish private insurance” question. In our own editorial meetings we’ve had difficulty figuring out exactly where they all stand on health care. Let’s hope they ask the same question tomorrow as well. Which actually makes me wonder… will they ask the same or similar questions tomorrow night? Probably unfair to the candidates tonight if they ask the same questions, but then we may not hear their positions on key issues
