What Went Down On Night One Of The First Democratic Debates
Eighty-six percent of Americans favor allowing the federal government to directly negotiate lower drug prices with pharmaceutical companies for people on Medicare, while 13 percent are opposed, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation poll from February.
This has been a pretty populist debate so far, with both Klobuchar and Warren identifying big corporations and industries as the problem.
Weird pivot IMO by Klobuchar to pharmaceuticals instead of owning her position on the public option, which is actually a pretty popular position and not that hard to defend rhetorically (“you get a *choice* of what type of health care you want”).
