We just heard from Julian Castro, the one Latino candidate who is seeking the Democratic nomination. I’m curious to see how much he targets Latinx voters specifically. A recent Latino Decisions poll had him at 9 percent among Latinx voters, which was still behind Biden (20 percent) and Sanders (19 percent).

When I was reporting on campaign funding and corruption, researchers told me that one of the tough things here is figuring out what to replace the current fundraising system with. If we don’t get the $$ for wealthy PACs, that’s not necessarily a win. Small donors have been shown to lead candidates toward more extreme views, for instance.

Well, I think the moderators have really set a certain tone here at the outset — these questions are about corporate consolidation, the economy, tax rates, the pay gap. They seem to be making the (perhaps obvious point) that this Democratic primary has the most tension points over what to do to regulate the capitalist system.
