Climate change was named by 5 percent of respondents as the most important issue — and the vast majority of those people said Biden would be better equipped to deal with it than Trump. Biden supporters were also much likelier than Trump supporters to name it as the top issue: It was dead last among Trump supporters.

Data comes from polling done by Ipsos for FiveThirtyEight, using Ipsos’s KnowledgePanel, a probability-based online panel that is recruited to be representative of the U.S. population. The poll was conducted Oct. 15-21 among a general population sample of adults, with 3,263 respondents and a margin of error of +/- 1.9 percentage points.
