I think this is the first time the candidates have gotten a question about housing, but it’s a topic that several of them have addressed in depth. Warren, for example, just released a plan to lower the costs of renting a home.

Steyer is giving a decent answer on housing if he were running for governor of California. I remain skeptical that the presidency is the place to start with this issue, and in some places, housing is perfectly reasonable but there are no jobs. If this is a question for the president, it’s a national one and not just about astronomical prices in California, which after all is not a swing state. 😉

That was a fairly substantive but probably too detailed answer from Steyer on housing, who isn’t getting much speaking time and really needs to pivot to whatever takeaway message he wants voters to remember him by.
