Barack and Michelle Obama remain the most popular figures in the Democratic Party. The Biden nomination may eventually be seen as an extension of the Obama era. When choosing among labels such as “liberal Democrat” and “conservative Democrat,” many 2020 Democrats called themselves an “Obama Democrat.” That large constituency helped Biden win.
