Yeah, I’ve been thinking about that too, Matt. The virtual format has excelled in telling ordinary Americans’ stories, but it falls short with the politicians. It feels too infomercial-esque and disingenuous, and so I’d rather they drop some of the packaged pretense and just say, here’s a speech.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti was rumored to be interested in the presidency himself, but he opted not to run and was an early Biden endorser. I’m curious to see what kind of role Garcetti gets in a potential Biden administration — I’d think he’s owed a pretty big posting.

I think the guns and immigration segments were more about base mobilization, which is why they came before prime time. I think this hour will be about less-polarizing issues targeted at a more general audience.
