What Went Down On Night 3 Of The DNC
Or honestly, Amelia, health care. It’s amazing to me how the question of reforming health care has fallen by the wayside with the pandemic. It makes sense, but just given the amount of oxygen it took up in the primaries (which feel like a lifetime ago) I’m surprised.
Gabrielle Giffords was doing a constituent event outside a Safeway in Tucson when she was shot in the head by a would-be assassin. She miraculously survived but had to resign from Congress; she later founded Americans for Responsible Solutions, a gun control organization now known as simply “Giffords.” Her husband, Mark Kelly, is Democrats’ candidate for U.S. Senate this year in Arizona.
It’s amazing, Geoffrey, how many issues I heard about from voters (a lot of them wanted to hear more about gun violence from the candidates!) that have just gotten totally wiped out by the pandemic. Remember when we were hearing a lot about a wealth tax? Or Trump’s immigration policies?
