The contrast between Democrats making a pitch to “all Americans” and Republicans making a pitch to their base has been put into stark relief during this convention. If Biden loses, the base of the Democratic Party will be making a lot of hay of that strategy. If Biden wins, and if he actually brings a bunch of new voters into the party, the Republicans Party could be in a very weak position. That’s the bet.
