I agree, Amelia. I’ve thought about this a little today, and even though Republicans Christine Todd Whitman, Meg Whitman, and Susan Molinari have been out of politics for a while, it’s an effective statement to have Republican women endorse Biden. Especially at a moment when Trump is tweeting about winning women voters.

It also stood out to me that the first three Republicans to speak were women. Obviously Kasich is the exception — but Trump could be facing even more eroding support among female voters, and this is a subtle reminder of that.

I’m not sure how many Republicans like Kasich or Molinari there are in the electorate, Sarah. Whitman has been registering dissatisfaction with the direction of the Republican Party for well over a decade now. But the idea of a somewhat organized faction of Republicans breaking off, endorsing Biden and appearing at this convention feels like a potential lasting shake-up to me.
