What Went Down At The December Democratic Primary Debate
Steyer comes off sounding knowledgeable about nuclear power. He says it’s too dangerous, and we should be considering wind and power instead. And he pushes back on the doom and gloom we’ve heard from other candidates, saying that this is an issue we can tackle.
This is a side note, but for a while I got really fascinated by the debate over nuclear power and technology, etc. It fascinates me that Americans are still very afraid of it (Three Mile Island). Yang is basically making the point that the country shouldn’t be, contradicting Warren who says she doesn’t want to build more nuclear plants.
People probably aren’t going to love the tone of Yang’s “move people to higher ground” plan, even if it’s actually necessary. This feeds into the idea that Yang is a “doomer” candidate. But he does say that nuclear has to be on the table.
