What Went Down At The January Democratic Debate
We’re not seeing a lot of Steyer so far — which is kind of understandable, given that questions about foreign policy experience are hard for someone with no political experience to answer. But one of his main jobs tonight is to just stand out and get voters’ attention, and that isn’t happening for him yet.
It seems like … everyone’s playing to their strengths here? I’m not sure that it’s easy to score debate points on foreign policy.
That’s right, Maggie — people’s gender stereotypes lead them to assume that women aren’t as tough on issues like defense and foreign policy, but female candidates are also punished for seeming too aggressive. It’s a lovely no-win situation.
