What Went Down At The January Democratic Debate
It seems like … everyone’s playing to their strengths here? I’m not sure that it’s easy to score debate points on foreign policy.
That’s right, Maggie — people’s gender stereotypes lead them to assume that women aren’t as tough on issues like defense and foreign policy, but female candidates are also punished for seeming too aggressive. It’s a lovely no-win situation.
Biden took the heat out of this section by not relitigating the Iraq debate. Now all of the candidates are basically bashing Trump and calling for more diplomacy, with few real differences. We are debating whether some troops or no troops should remain in the Middle East — but I’m not sure how big of a difference they are really articulating.
